Communities That Care (CTC) is a scientific model that mobilizes community members from all sectors and backgrounds to
unite as a local coalition and use what we know works from science to build healthier communities for youth. The CTC model
has been shown to address the risk and protective factors related to violence, substance use, and delinquency among youth, and
promote positive development and mental health. The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence at the University of
Colorado Boulder administered a survey to our coalition in September 2020, as part of the CTC Colorado evaluation funded by
the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The survey collected information from our coalition
members consisting of the key leader board, community board, and youth advisory board members.
The survey asked about key elements of coalition functioning that work together to support our coalition’s capacity to achieve
desired outcomes in our community, adopt a science-based approach to prevention, and collectively transform our community….
